Death Comes to Pemberley, by P.D. James (book on CD)

  • lots of hype but rather boring and tedious mystery set several years after the marriage of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy.

Bride of New France, by Suzanne Derochers

  • historical fiction depicting the experience of filles du roi, women of “uncertain origin” from France shipped to Canada in the late 17th century to help grow the new colony there. Interesting, rich in detail, and a better-than-expected plot.

Room, by Emma Donoghue

  • finally got around to reading this much-hyped book. I suppose it was worth it; I enjoyed the second half more than the first. Unique for sure.
